Specification:

The dome controller is powered via the supplied 12V DC 7AH lead-acid battery, at a current suitable for the motor employed to operate the dome rotation. Power to the unit is controlled via the main switch and a red LED indicates when power is turned on. Dome slewing at 400 x sidereal speed in either direction is by remote operation, using the keyfob transmitter (range up to 100m). A microprocessor controls the automatic tracking by moving the dome in a stepwise fashion, each step being approximately 1.8°. Tracking speed can be adjusted from 10 x sidereal down to sidereal ÷ 20 using the tracking control knob. It is recommended that the unit is switched off when not in use.

 

Using the Solar Panel charger accessory, the unit can be trickle charged during the daylight hours.

2.2 m Classic Accessory Kit


 

The Pulsar Observatory Accessory kit is designed to aid the opening and closing of the dome shutter, and to minimise the risk of the shutter slipping and causing damage. Easy to fit, the kit comes complete with pulleys, nuts, bolts and washers, together with 3 meters of Nylon rope.

It can be fitted whilst your dome is being installed or retro-fitted afterwards.

The pulley fits to the flange at the top of your dome aperture, through the existing bolt hole, and the Nylon cord fits in a loop through the 4.5 mm hole (which is already pre-drilled) in the shutter handle A spring loaded hook and horseshoe shaped D shackle are positioned at the rear of the dome to keep the cord out of the way when the shutter is open. The kit costs just £30 plus postage, unless purchased with your observatory. Supplied with detailed fitting instructions.

At last a quick and precise system to polar-align Celestron SCT equatorial wedges´. A high-precision CNC-machined attachment block milled from solid aluminium, the Polarmate fits precisely to the top of the wedge´s tilt plate and carries a miniature polar scope that can be set to the local overhead right ascension (RA) angle.

The small polar scope, which is equipped with a comfortable rubber eye-cup, has a fine reticule that shows the location of Polaris relative to the north celestial pole. The Polarmate delivers precise and repeatable polar alignment literally in seconds.

Far more precise and immediate than the electronic methods provided on the telescope handset, the Polarmate does away with the need for repeated running of firmware-based polar alignment routines. Use the included quick reference chart to quickly estimate the overhead RA hour (or use your favourite planetarium program to give this number) and simply set the hour angle on the Polarmate´s RA index.

The DIY Pier Kit provides just what the name says: a pier you build yourself. But don't worry this isn't a major engineering project were you start with a set of plans and build everything from scratch. AE have done the technical stuff for you, and provided a kit of parts that contains all the engineering hardware you need to make the actual connection between the top of the concrete pier and the bottom of an equatorial wedge. The actual pier body is made in concrete by the shuttering method using standard 300mm (12") industrial air-conditioning ducting. Meade Ultrawedge For Meade LX and RCX Telescopes

Equatorial wedge for the 7"-14" LX200, 10" & 12" LX90, and 10"-14" RCX400 model telescopes.

This 29 pound die-cast Ultrawedge comes with all necessary mounting hardware to mount it on either the Pulsar steel pier or the LX200 variable height tripod or the RCX400 tripod . It can be used over a latitude range of 25 to 65. It comes with large 3 diameter no-tool altitude and azimuth adjustment knobs to make polar alignment easy.

A supplied compass fits into the Ultrawedge to make the initial north alignment easier. The die cast vertical side pieces that hold the tilt plate are reinforced by two steel bars bolted from side to side at the rear of the wedge. These bars also improve the Ultrawedges vibration damping times.

This superb and unique British made fully portable system is 100% steel and breaks down in minutes to just 7 key parts all of which can be put in the boot of a car for easy transport.

Offering a third choice between field tripod and full observatory pier, the AzRok will out-perform all but the best anti-vibration observatory piers. Easily outperforming the heaviest field tripods for rigidity and freedom from head-buckle and flexing.

Out performs plain steel piers - plain pieces of pipe cemented into the ground. Why bother with plain piers when the AzRok can offer higher standards of rigidity with tripod like portable convenience?

In fact, it will hold the telescope more rigidly than the common type of DIY pier (2 metre length of seven inch diameter steel gaspipe cast with half of the pipe stuck in a metre square block of concrete!). Only a professionally made anti-vibration observatory pier that fastens to a flat concrete base with masonary anchors will beat the AzRok for rigidity and vibration free performance.

The AzRok was designed by Robert Dalby, one of the worlds most experienced telescope pier designers. The AzRok does not use any form of active or compression fasteners (nuts and bolts and the like) normally found on tripods. Instead it relies on a totally different principle and uses three balanced isometric tensioners to deliver an amazing standard of structural rigidity not found on currenly available tripods.

Although the AzRok is a truly portable mounting system, and can easily be assembled by one person, it is a very heavy product and it is not suitable for carrying any distance without a vehicle.

The only down-side that we can see with the AzRok is that, just like a tripod the it has legs and tensioner rods that can get in the way much as tripod legs do. However, the legs are much smaller and lower than would normally be found on a large field tripod for SCTs.

The AC394 utility shelf is robustly secured by four bolts to a welded accessory ring positioned near the top of all geuine Astro Engineering observatory piers.
